Anti Aging Skin Care: "Pharmaceutical" Cosmetics

Anti Aging Skin Care: "Pharmaceutical" Cosmetics
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Danna_Schneider]Danna Schneider

Have you ever heard the new buzz term "cosmeceuticals"? This nifty term refers to the fusion of two areas, one which cultivates necessary medications which control our bodily processes internally, and the other, which manipulates our body from the outside, cosmetically improving our appearance.

You guessed it, the first is "pharmaceuticals" and the second is "cosmetics". The joining of these two fields, both extremely lucrative, and arguably necessary, is called "cosmeceuticals", and this exciting new breed is causing a stir in the beauty community lately.

Although they have been united in this new genre of cosmetics, the two are very different when it comes to government and advisory board regulation. Pharmaceuticals, at least in the US currently, are heavily regulated by the organization known as the FDA, while cosmetics are not government regulated.

Why? Cosmetics are not regulated by any government agency because they are not considered a device that alters bodily chemistry of function internally in any way, nor are they advertised as substances that change the chemistry of the body.

Currently, cosmetics manufacturers are walking on eggshells to keep this paritcular pharmaceutical and cosmetic distinction in tact, as precious dollars could be lost if the new breed of cosmeceuticals were government regulated.

Even if a wrinkle cream currently marketed had the ability to actually "get rid of wrinkles", cosmetic marketers are very careful to still note that they only decrease or eliminate the "appearance" of aging and wrinkles, since this still technically is not pharmaceutical in nature.

Some of these new cosmeceuticals which feature high grade vitamins and various proteins and peptides actually do "get rid of wrinkles" and remove signs of aging though, although they still are careful to avoid this overzealous marketing for fear of FDA regulation.

Cosmetic companies specializing in anti aging have come up with everything from potent vitamin extracts, to skin tightening complexes with antioxidants, restructuring aids like peptides and other skin cell regenerators, and a host of other interesting sounding ingredients that keep popping up as the latest in age reversal and age prevention.

And which of these latest "cosmeceutical grade" anti aging and wrinkle creams is best? Well, it's hard to say, because there are now quite a few in competition with one another that do contain ingredients that are beneficial in different ways.

If you're looking for a fresher and brighter look, with more cell turnover, you may turn to a formula with acids such as alpha hydroxy and other fruit derived acids, or one loaded with antioxidants.

If you're looking for more of a quick fix, skin tightening formula, you may choose a formula with ingredients like copper, hyaluronic acid and DMAE, which is a substance that is found naturally in the skin of certain fish and is excellent for almost instantaneous firming and toning.

Either way you slice it, women have the best options for anti aging and wrinkle fighting in the here and now, than they ever had in the past.

The best part is, it only stands to get better, with the constant development of new anti aging products. As long as the cosmetics companies keep responding to increasing consumer demand for anti aging aids, we will have consistent upgrades in cosmeceutical offerings.

The downside? Some of it can become a bit pricey, but remember, a little usually goes a long way, so you may actually be going through the "expensive" stuff at a fraction of the speed you would go through a cheaper, lighter formula. And who can put a price on looking and feeling young? Call me vain, shallow, or narcissistic, but I'll pay the extra money, as long as I get serious results!

Dangers of Cosmetics

Dangers of Cosmetics
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Zee_Avin]Zee Avin

Hi there, are you a regular user of cosmetics? Do you know that there are certain dangers associated with the use of cosmetics? Just like there are pros and cons in everything you do, the use of cosmetics can lead to danger in some cases or just hazardous to health, if you are using the wrong type of cosmetics or you are using bad and harmful cosmetics.

First of all, there is a saying do not drink and drive. It is not good when you have drunk alcohol above the legal prescribed limit but decide to drive after that. Similarly, drivers should also know that the use of handphones is not safe for driving. I know you may have also seen Mr Bean wake up in the morning and brush his teeth, change into his work clothes (including putting on his pants and socks) while driving.

While this may seem quite out of this world and may not happen, I think putting on cosmetics while driving may seem to be quite a real thing, hence there is some dangers associated with this and I would advise you to refrain from driving and putting on cosmetics at the same time!

Another danger of cosmetics is if you use cosmetics which has already turned bad and has turned bad and cannot be used anymore. If your cosmetics smells funny or looks funny, i.e. the colour has faded or instead of one colour you now see two colours, it may be an indication that the cosmetics is not to be used anymore. Always remember to close your make-up containers tight when you are not using the make-up.

This will help to preserve the make up and the cosmetics. In addition, do store your cosmetics in a cool dry place. Do not leave your cosmetics in an area which is exposed to sunlight or constant heat. Sunlight and heat can kill the preservatives used in the cosmetics that are added to preserve it and to kill off fight bacteria. That said, if your car is parked under the hot sun for several hours, it is best not to keep your cosmetics in the car while you are not on the road.

Oh another point is never to share your cosmetics and make-up with other people. This is due to personal hygiene reasons and is simple common sense really. Just like you do not share your clothes, towels or personal toiletries with others, please also do not share your cosmetics also. Beware too when you try out samples at a departmental store and always use a new sponge to apply these cosmetics. Please also do not apply the cosmetics directly to your lips, eyes, etc. It is best just to test it out on the skin of your hands.

I am a regular cosmetics user and I would like to write more articles on cosmetics. Women Love Lipstick Cosmetics

Women Love Lipstick Cosmetics
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=SJ_Scott]SJ Scott

Lipstick Cosmetics have been a fascination through the ages, from ancient times to modern day. Lipstick has a long and evolving history down through thousands of years. It started back somewhere around 3000 BC, at that time women were using a lot of toxic chemicals to color their lips. You could say they were willing to die for their beauty.

Over the years lipstick cosmetics changed with the times and at one period in history women were burned at the stake for luring men in with their devil red lips. England's Parliament during the 1700's passed a law that a woman could be burned at the stake for wearing lip color. Queen Victoria said that lipstick and other cosmetics were not to be worn. Of course one of Queen Victoria's predecessors Queen Elizabeth was a great fan of cosmetics. At her court women wore chalk white on their faces with bold red lips and lots of jewelry amidst their ruffled colors.

As time progressed, women who wore red lipstick cosmetics were thought to be "fast" or "floozies" with their red tempting lips. Many women yearned to wear the bright red lip color but refrained and satisfied themselves with paler colors, rather than be looked down on.
In the twentieth century lipstick came into vogue, women started to claim their own power and they used bright red lipstick as a symbol. Movie stars started to wear more lipstick and chose bold sexy vibrant colors to give them that pouty wanting to be kissed look.

Since these women were admired for their beauty and independence, women wanted to be like them and lipstick cosmetics were brought into a new era where women could paint their lips and be proud. Cosmetic companies started, Max Factor, Maybelline , and Elizabeth Arden just to name a few worked to develop safer ingredients to provide new colors and of course still allow women to achieve those lush kissable lips.

Lipstick cosmetics have come a long way through time to become a primary beauty staple for millions of women. Don't leave home without it!
